Orono Schools (ISD #278) is located on a beautiful, 120-acre campus in Long Lake, Minnesota, in the west-metro area of Minneapolis. Organized in 1949, the district serves resident students in all or part of the following communities: Independence, Long Lake, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetonka Beach and Orono. The statewide enrollment options program allows families who live outside school district boundaries to apply for open enrollment into Orono Schools.

Our uniqueness begins with a single K-12 campus setting near the shores of Lake Classen. Our small size helps ensure that every child is known. In alignment with the district's strategic goals, teachers and staff focus on three main areas: scholarship, character and connectedness. The connectedness we enjoy goes far beyond facilities and a serene natural setting. Our schools are a vital part of the communities we serve. We enjoy tremendous support from the residents of these communities!

Small in size... BIG in Achievement!
