2026 Orono School Board Election

Candidate Filing Period*
An affidavit of candidacy may be obtained from the District Office (DO) or the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State website. Candidates must complete and then sign the affidavit of candidacy in the presence of the election clerk at the DO. A $2.00 filing fee is also required.

July 14-28, 2026

DO hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon.-Thurs.; 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fri.

On July 28, District Office closes 5 p.m.

Candidate withdrawal period ends; complete and submit the affidavit of withdrawal to the District Office.

October 1, 2026 7-8:30 p.m.

* Per state law, to qualify for election to the Orono School Board, you must be at least 21 years old, an eligible voter, a resident in the district for 30 days before the general election (M.S. 204B.06, Subd. 1), and not a convicted sex offender (M.S. 205A.06, Subd. 1b). School board members are elected to 4-year terms and take office the first Monday in January (M.S. 123B.09, Subd. 1).
