About Orono Intermediate School

Orono's small size means that all classmates are together in one school, which strengthens community-building and fosters a unique bond between students. This makes Orono special!

Students at Orono Intermediate School continue to build on a strong, early-years foundation while exploring interests through personalized learning. Students grow and achieve within a caring environment that promotes independence and accountability. A modified schedule, and the introduction of band and choir in fifth-grade, prepare students for middle school.

Strengthening the Foundation

As students progress into the later elementary years, they bring a growing need for more responsibility. Our Intermediate School program builds on every child’s academic foundation, adding opportunities to personalize learning and explore topics of interest in English, social studies, math and science. As students develop a greater sense of self, they are able to ask and answer more open-ended questions.

Growing Independence

Students’ pursuit of independence in grades 3-5 can be satisfied in ways both big and small. Classroom “jobs,” independent study time and project-based choices all provide opportunities for self-management and leadership. To prepare for middle school, our fifth-graders have a different morning and afternoon teacher (presenting consistent content areas) and may move independently through the building to band, choir, and other pull-out opportunities.

Meet Ms. Jodl

Welcome to Orono Intermediate School! Our talented staff is committed to working with students as they continue to explore their independence, responsibilities and personal interests. Character education is at the core of our curriculum combined with an emphasis on building relationships and high academic standards for all students. We care deeply about our students and are committed to all learning at high levels. Maximizing EACH Student’s Potential in Life~Scholarship, Character and Relationships.

Personally, my love for learning began around the dinner table with my parents and five sisters. As the youngest, I enjoyed listening to my family discuss current events, politics, future plans, hopes and dreams. We would sit at the table together well after eating our meal. My parents encouraged us to always do our best and value our education. For me, attending school and participating in athletics and student life brought me so much happiness. I knew that teaching and remaining in a school setting throughout my career was my calling!

Today,  I live on a small hobby farm where we have raised our three grown children. I enjoy watching and playing all sports, reading, cabin life in Wisconsin, active outdoor activities or relaxing with a good book! Thank you for entrusting your child with Orono Schools!
