Welcome to the OMS School Counseling site! Our team of School Counselors, School Social Workers, School Psychologists, Academic Interventionists, and Support Staff are dedicated to promoting student success. We are here to help middle school students in the following ways:
Academics
- Transition to Orono Middle School
- Academic support
- Connect with parents and teachers about student needs
- Recommend and support class placements
Success Skills
- Deliver developmental counseling lessons
- Interpretation and goal setting around testing results
- Monitor and enourage attendance
Personal & Social Support
- Individual and small-group counseling
- Crisis intervention and prevention
- Referrals for additional support
Academics
The OMS support team helps students achieve academic success by identifying appropriate courses and interventions while working with teachers for support in the classroom.
Success Skills
Various tools for success in school are available to students. OMS Support Staff offer help through developmental counseling lessons, goal setting around testing results, and encouraging attendance.
Personal & Social Support
In addition to the focus on academics and success skills, support staff provide individual and small-group counseling, crisis intervention and prevention and referrals.
