Personal & Social Support

Middle School Students at Homecoming Parade

OMS Support Staff Roles for Personal Social Support

OMS support staff members are here to help students with their personal and social concerns as well as enhance their social and emotional development. Middle school years mark a student's entry into adolescence, a journey that can be wonderful, frustrating, exhilarating and painful - often vacillating from moment to moment.  In many ways, parents join their child on this ride. Students at this age are trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in the world. Pushing limits with parents, peer conflict, and difficulty adjusting to the increased rigor of middle school are common. Below are some resources that may be helpful in navigating the world of middle school.

New Student Orientation

Transitioning to a new school can be a challenging time for students. If you are new to our building or district, please visit the enrollment webpage for more information and then contact the district office at enrollment@orono.k12.mn.us or telephone 952-449-8312. Once we receive enrollment information from the District Office, we will work with you and your student to help them with this transition. At Orono Middle School, we offer tours to new students and the opportunity to participate in New Student Groups to get to know other new students and become familiar with our school community.

For questions, please contact lydia.leck@orono.k12.mn.us or jennifer.lubke@orono.k12.mn.us.
