PSEO - Post-secondary Enrollment Options

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options is a dual enrollment program that allows students in grades 10-12 earn college and high school credit simultaneously. 

• The state of Minnesota pays the tuition, so there is no cost to the student. 
• Students can enroll part-time or full-time at most private and public colleges/universities in Minnesota.
• Eligibility is set by each institution (commonly minimum GPA of 2.8). The University of Minnesota and private colleges are different.
• 10th graders are eligible to take 1 CTE (Career & Technical Education) course. Students must meet the minimum MCA Reading Score to be eligible.

If you are interested in attending PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options), please follow the steps below: 

1. Check the PSEO eligibility requirements of the college you are interested in attending
2. Complete the college’s online PSEO application
   1. Keep track of username (i.e., STAR ID) and password information—you will need it again
3. Parent/Guardian and Student sign the Orono High School PSEO Agreement
4. Complete the MDE - PSEO Notice of Student Registration (NOSR) Form (2024-2025)
5. Schedule a meeting with your School Counselor
   1. Bring your completed MDE - PSEO Three-Part Form
6. Follow the required orientation/registration steps at the PSEO institution and register for classes with guidance from the college's PSEO advisor.
7. Send a copy of your course registration (Course Titles and Credits) to your high school counselor for approval and verification.

• Students participating in PSEO may continue participation in activities and sports at their high school.

• No transportation if provided to/from PSEO institutions.
• There is a mileage reimbursement process for families that receive educational benefits. Please see your counselor for details. 

All textbooks and equipment provided to a pupil, and paid for by MDE, are the property of the post-secondary institution (PSI). Students are required to return all textbooks and equipment to the PSI after the course has ended.   (PSI = Post-Secondary Institution)
