School Pictures on Open House Day | Thursday, August 29 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
New this year! LifeTouch Picture Day will take place at Schumann Elementary on Thursday, August 29 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Families can sign up for an SE time block through the link below.
NOTES: Students need to take their picture at the school building they attend. Retakes are scheduled for Thursday, October 10, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

K-5 Back-to-School Open House | Thursday, August 29, drop in from 4-6 p.m.
We invite you to save the date and choose a convenient time to visit during the Orono Schumann Elementary and Orono Intermediate School K-5 Back-to-School Open House on Thursday, August 29 from 4-6 p.m. At the event, you will meet teachers, explore classrooms and learning spaces, and start forming new relationships! In the cafeteria, students can practice entering their lunch pin and receive a snack in return. On the school bus, Kindergartners and new-to-district students can take a practice ride and learn a bit about bus safety. Students will bring their school supplies, find their locker, and have fun on the playground.
Note to Kindergarten families: We will also have 45-minute Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday, September 3.
Note to all families: Grade-level curriculum presentations will be shared via email from your child’s classroom teacher in advance of the event. You’ll have a chance to review and then bring any questions about curriculum, classroom routines/daily schedule, recess, lunch, staff-to-home communication, and more. We look forward to welcoming your child(ren) and family for the 2024-25 school year! See you then!
MEDICATION: Please bring your child's medications and paperwork to the SE Health Office anytime between 1-6 p.m on August 29. Thank you!
Child Nutrition, Menus & Educational Benefits
School breakfast and lunch meals are fully funded for all students by the state of Minnesota. Please visit the Orono Child Nutrition website for more information and the new online link to sign up for Educational Benefits. Menus will be available through Nutrislice.
School Hours
The school day runs from 9:10 a.m. -3:40 p.m. Students can be dropped off at 8:55 a.m. or later.
End of Day-Dismissal
Students at SE have two options for end of day dismissal:
BUS: Bus Routes will be available on ParentVUE beginning August 21. Remember, bus passes are not issued the first two weeks of school. This practice allows for drivers to get routes/timing down. Questions about bus transportation, drop-off and pick-up? Please contact Orono Transportation.
Drive up, Pick up - CarRiderPro:
- If your student(s) are enrolled at Orono Schumann Elementary only, you will pick them up in the Orono Schumann Elementary CarRiderPro line pick up location behind Schumann Elementary entering from Old Crystal Bay Rd. N.
- If you have students enrolled at both Orono Schumann Elementary and Orono Intermediate School, you will pick up in the Orono Intermediate School back loop, using the County Road 112/Wayzata Blvd. entrance that leads to the cul-de-sac behind Orono Intermediate School (see map below.)
- If your student(s) are enrolled at Orono Intermediate School only, you will pick them up in the Orono Intermediate School front loop, entering off of Old Crystal Bay Road.
If your family has not been issued a CarRider Pro Tag and you will be picking up your student, please email jeanine.weisbeck@orono.k12.mn.us so a tag can be issued to your family. The district provides one tag for free. Additional tags are $5.00. If you have lost your tag or need to order additional tags, you may do so through My Payments Plus.

Please visit the Orono High School Student Life webpage for back-to-school information. Students will typically need their device, notebooks, paper, and a pen or pencil for each class. On the first day of school, individual teachers will explain any materials needed for their specific class—no need to purchase a lot of supplies in advance.
