Summer is just about here, and it's time for some fun with summer reading! Summer reading is critical to maintaining reading growth, developing reading interests, and expanding vocabulary. All the information you need for your child to engage in Orono's K-5 Summer Reading program can be found on the Orono K-5 Summer Reading website. On the site you will find program information, recommended book lists, and summer reading BINGO boards. If your child misplaces their BINGO board and you don't have a printer, stop by the SE or IS office for a new one.
Recognition and chance to win $20 of books! Students that complete a BINGO (all the squares in a line vertical or horizontal) should return the board to their teacher in the fall. If your child completes a BINGO blackout (entire board complete), he or she will also be entered in a drawing to win $20 of books. No matter what your summer plans entail, remember to read. Go on an adventure with a good book and discover a new title to recommend to others. Have a great summer and happy reading!
Orono Intermediate School
This summer, participate in the Orono BINGO challenge! Start by visiting the Orono K-5 Summer Reading website where you can find program information, recommended book lists, and summer reading BINGO boards.
As you complete each task on the board, ask your parent to initial the BINGO square. Think about what book you would recommend to others and include that on your board. You may only use one title per BINGO square - NO repeating titles. Students who complete a TWO BINGO blackouts (entire board is complete) will also be entered in a drawing for $20 of books. There will be three winners in each grade level. Completed BINGO boards can be turned into your teacher during the first week of school.
