Our Campus

Campus Construction & Parking Updates - Summer 2026

Estimated dates subject to change due to weather and contractor schedules. 

Summer facilities work is underway across campus. Please review the information below for details on area closings, parking restrictions, and more. Expect heavy construction on the north, west, and south high school lots. There will be a drive lane to the Activities Center lot open for traffic. 

Campus-wide Parking, Trails and Access
  • Open Parking Lots: High School South Lot (D), Morrison Ice Arena (A), OHS front lot (C), Activities Center lot (D), Mille School Lots L and K, District Office Lot (F -- partially open), and Orono Schumann Elementary staff lots (E and G). 
  • Closed Parking Lots: Orono High School North Lot B and Orono Middle School Lot M.
  • Paving crews are focusing on the Orono Middle School and Orono Schumann Elementary trails. 
  • Crews plan to work Saturday 8/1 focusing on trails; in particular, the IS trail. All concrete work is finished.

  • District Office and Schumann Elementary staff parking lots. Please do not park in the lots on the following dates. Alternate lots include the Schumann Elementary main lot and and south high school lots. Also, avoid foot traffic across the lots as some of the product used will not come out of clothing or flooring. Pending good weather, lots should be open again on Monday, Aug. 17.

    • Saturday, Aug. 8 – High School North lot base paving; crack filling of the Elementary West Lot and the District Office Lot

    • Wednesday, Aug. 12 – Chip Seal of the Elementary West Lot and the District Office Lot

    • Thursday, Aug. 13 – Sweep loose rock on the Elementary West Lot and the District Office Lot

    • Friday, Aug. 14 – Fog Seal the Elementary West Lot and the District Office Lot

Orono Schumann Elementary
  • Playground remains closed; crews are hoping to finish the space this week
  • HVAC and electrical replacement continues
  • Gym floor finish begins August 3 and will be inaccessible August 3-16.

Orono Intermediate School
  • Exterior tuckpointing continues
Orono Middle School
  • Lot M remains closed pending permit for new tennis courts (anticipated start date now August 17).
Orono High School
  • now through summer - North (B) and South (D) lots host contractor equipment and materials

Orono Discovery Center (Maple Plain)

  • Door replacement begins August 5. Doors will be secured each night. 
Orono District Office
  • Exterior tuckpointing continues
  • Parking lot refresh August 8-16
Athletic Fields - Varsity Baseball
  • Bull pen work begins August 1 with fencing installation anticipated for the week of August 10

Central K-12 campus

The central campus is home to Orono Schumann Elementary, Orono Intermediate School, Orono Middle School, Orono High School and the Orono Activities Center. On the Orono campus you'll find:

  • Oliver Grieb Abbott Environmental Learning Center and Orono Rotary Learning Pavilion
  • Morrison Ice Arena
  • Pesonen Stadium
  • multiple tennis courts
  • four campus gymnasiums
  • fields for football, soccer, baseball, softball and other outdoor activities
  • two auditoriums
  • The beautiful Orono Activities Center, opened in 2019, offers top-flight facilities with economical memberships available to the community. Learn more about the Orono Activities Center!

Discovery Center in Maple Plain

The District also manages the Discovery Center on its auxiliary campus in Maple Plain. The Discovery Center is home to Orono's Early Learning and Preschool programs. The center also hosts a wide variety of Community Education programs and activities for community members all ages.
